Hey there, this hacky sack crochet pattern was created by Canyon Castle! It is super easy to follow and has numerous pictures to help you along the way. The most important thing to keep in mind when crocheting these hacky sacks is to keep a tight enough tension throughout the pattern so that the beans in the hacky sack will not show through or come out.
(Overview)- This pattern is about as simple as it gets. First we will crochet a sphere shape using crochet thread, then we will stuff the sphere with beans (I used sorghum beans), and finally all we will have left to do is sew the hole closed!
To make these fun hacky sacks, use two strands of size 10 crochet thread and a size 2.75 or C-2 crochet hook. You can use two different colored threads for a fun combination or simply two strands of the same color. Also for a smaller, more supple hacky sack, you can use only one strand of thread, but if you want a firmer hacky sack, use two strands of thread. (The green hacky sack in the picture below was crocheted with one strand while the white/pink hacky sack and purple hacky sack were crocheted with two strands.) Each hacky sack measures about 7 inches in circumference. This crochet pattern is written in US terminology and is 11 pages long. Have fun!!!
